SUSPIRIA_2018
Year: 2018

Description- A fresh-faced dancer joins a troupe in Berlin where strange things are going down and I'm not talking about the dance moves.
Viewing- first time
Good for- Tilda Effing Swinton, Weirdness in tiny doses in a very long time period.
Fair warning- Bewbs, ding-dongs, tons of references to war time, and interpretive dance (yes, that deserves a warning)
Thoughts-
Okay...So, the original Suspiria has the stunning beauty of color and violence. This movie lacks it. We had to crank the brightness up. The sets are gorgeous and detailed at times, but it's not taken advantage of.
It's LOOOOOOOOONG. There is a lot that could have been removed and it would have been better.
All that said, Tilda Effing Swinton.
She is amazing as always. I find her captivating and I wish this was filmed in a way that capitalized on her presence. She plays 3 characters and was great at all 3, although Blanc is the one I wanted to see her in.
The death of a previous lead dancer is cool. The culmination of the evil plans is pretty good.
Overall, the original was more satisfying. I'm more likely to re-re-re-rewatch The Dead Don't Die to get a dose of Tilda.
